Sixty-second times we have said it
and still ask are we really independant..
alone and together we have lived through
mistakes for which we are repentant...
Achievements and awards,landmarks felled,
we hurried along,chasing destiny,
democracy tried,and now with tears dried
relieved for we dont mirror neighborhood mutiny...
Sometimes we grew when others withdrew,
sometimes we shook hands others ignored,
but we chartered our path,facing junta's wrath
and wore garlands when we soared...
We grasped technology as common terminology,
expanded our minds and worked undazed,
hours never mattered,as long as family at home
received comforts which we refused unfazed...
We raced to acquire from the corporate quagmire,
jewels which furthered our reputation,
as ethical managers who believed in values,
not just revenue generation...
What we lack in expertise we make up,
by dedication for causes we take up.
Many shortcomings still remain,
poverty tugs at our heavy heart,
questions raised are but slightly grazed
ignonimity for not playing our part.
Howsoever,thou may complain..
there are issues we need to explain..
but we shall not shy away,
rather face the future,the Indian way..
