Old Truth

I stood outside the window,
watching you,my son,with your friends,
By chance that I had ventured that way,
On a Walk,as I do when the day ends.

Looking at you,midst of laughter,
reminded me of the cake,
your mother took hours to bake,
lying on the table,
your mother asleep beside it,unable,
at her age,to keep awake,

You lied when you said,
you were in office late,
Wish you had told us we made,
an embarassment of you,
Today I am ashamed to,
Be a moment more in your house.

When you,so little,
unaware of society and right,
you should've seen mamma's plight,
Keeping you protected,
waking nights when you were infected,
by even the slightest cold, causing fever,
there is nothing you can do to perceive her,
struggling to maintain family and child.

You came to me often,
for I always solved,
your problems,and how they evolved,
into giants,that we slayed,
and together we stayed,
Father and Son against the world,as one.

We never hoped or asked,
to be given equal payment,
when your time came, nor do we lament,
as others do,or complain about losing,
our honeymoon years by choosing,
your blossoming over our lives.

We took our path without regret,
and so we deserve,
that you do not reserve,
your true feelings and let us part,
as a family..and from the start,
we knew a day would come,we heeded,
Nature's warning, that one day we will be no longer needed
