Ashes to Ashes,
Dust to Dust.
The priest uttered and they threw dirt,
upon my father and closed him into Earth,
with his laugh,his pocket watch,
with his taste for fine scotch.
Disappointed my mother all his life,
I hate her for pushing him so,
My sister wanted him for money,
to continue with her flower show,
strangling him dry with their wants,
shedding his tears with the taunts.
I did, Father, join you after college,
not to seek recognition, but rather your knowledge,
seeing life through your struggling eyes,
they put to rest,many lies,
Told by my blood kin,
Now I feel..the bloodiest Sin.
Watching you teach me,
help me grow,
making a man out of a child,
made me love you more,
than all those gifts, all those years,
you showered the family, holding back tears,
I know your dreams,father,
and I shall take the road you travelled,
and I shall walk on the path ungravelled,
bringing pain...in the discouraging rain..
getting me closer to repair now deplete
all the broken boulevards under your feet.
Ashes to Ashes,
Dust to Dust.
